HUNT HIGHWAY PHASE 4 and GANTZEL ROAD IMPROVEMENTS

CEI was selected to provide construction administration and inspection for four projects along Hunt Highway, which include:

- Hunt Highway Phase 4 – a 2.5-mile segment that runs from Bella Vista Road to Magma Road
- Gantzel Road Phase D2 – a nearly 1 mile new road connecting Hunt Highway to Omega Drive
- Gantzel Channel and Detention Basin – a new drainage channel, weir and large detention basin, conveying/storing runoff from the nearby San Tan Mountains under Hunt Highway and outletting to the Sonoqui Wash
- Hunt-Magma Phase II and III Flood Mitigation – new drainage channels along and near Magma Road to convey storm runoff under Hunt Highway to large detention basins along the Copper Basin Community.
Prior to construction, CEI worked closely with the designer and utility companies for constructability reviews and relocation schedules.
The scopes of these projects include widening of Hunt Highway to a five-lane interim roadway including bike lanes, box culverts, drainage channels, retention basins, storm sewers, curb and gutter, sidewalks, driveways, new traffic signals, signing and striping, landscaping (trees at retention basins and decomposed granite throughout the projects, and required utility relocations.
Later on in the project process, Pinal County added to the contract construction of Judd Road and Tourmaline Road (both are new 2-lane roadways) to connect from Copper Basin to the newly constructed Gantzel Road.
