The Northern Parkway corridor is a major east-west arterial located in an area that is experiencing rapid growth. The improvements are being built in phases. When fully complete, it will encompass 12.5 miles and establish a direct corridor from SR 303L to SR 101L. The Phase 2 project is constructing 3.5 miles of frontage roads from Dysart Road to 111th Avenue along with a 5-span girder bridge over the Agua Fria River. It is a partnership between the cities of El Mirage, Glendale, and Peoria; the Maricopa Association of Governments and the Maricopa County Department of Transportation as the lead agency on the project.

Consultant Engineering, Inc. is providing full service construction administration and inspection for all project elements including:

        • construction of two-lane eastbound and westbound frontage roads parallel to the existing Northern Avenue between
          Dysart Road and El Mirage Road;
        • installation of four new traffic signals along the frontage roads and at 115th Avenue;
        • construction of a four-lane all-weather bridge over the Agua Fria River to replace the existing at-grade river crossing; and
        • other items such as major earthwork and storm drains, a five-barrel reinforced box culvert, lighting, and landscaping
          throughout the project.
